Until We Have Faces
Hear our cries
Hear our plea
Turn their heads
Make them see
Different people
From different places
Plead with them
Until we have faces
Our blood speaks up from the ground
Justice for me is not to be found
Because my father was a wicked man
Because I wasn't a part of your plan
Because my life means less to you
Than your
peace and
comfort and
conscience too
The cries of thousands all join mine
In this day and age
and throughout time
Those who were treated as less than human
Because they were
Black or
Jewish or
Woman
Discarded and
thrown out without a thought
Mocked and
Tortured and
Sold and
Bought
And here we are in this cycle again
With nothing learned from our history of sin
The same excuses to quiet the masses
The same lie that anything passes
Calling something by something it's not
They'll never know, we'll never be caught
So I need a voice for when I can't speak
Some one to stand up and defend us, the weak
Hear our cries
Hear our plea
Turn their heads
Make them see
Different people
From different places
Plead with them
Until we have faces
